Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Padel Lessons Gozo (Jack, operating as a sole trader in Gozo, Malta) collects, why, and how it's handled. This site is small and personally run, this policy is written to be genuinely readable, not to bury things in legal boilerplate.
It covers the main website and the Padel & Social community page, where you can sign up for events and find or post a match.
What information is collected
When you book a lesson or sign the participant waiver, the following may be collected:
- Your name and phone number
- An emergency contact (optional)
- A fitness/health declaration relevant to taking part in physical activity safely
- Messages sent via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger
When you use the Padel & Social community page (signing up for a weekly session or a tournament, or posting or joining a match), the following may be collected:
- Your name and mobile number
- Your email address, only if you choose to give one
- Your playing level and, for the weekly sessions, whether you have your own racket
- The date, time and level of any match you post or join
- Scores and who won, for tournaments
Match board numbers are public. If you post or join a match, your name and mobile number are shown on the match board to anyone who opens the page, so that players can contact each other directly. For weekly sessions and tournaments, only your name is shown publicly (the weekly list also shows your playing level). Your number and email are never shown there.
If you win a tournament, a “defending champion” tag may appear next to your name when you sign up for the next one. This is matched using your phone number, which isn't shown.
During a tournament, the organiser can switch on a live results page. While it's on, your name and your scores are shown on it to anyone who has the link. Phone numbers and email addresses are never part of it. It stops being available when the organiser turns it off, and in any case after 30 days.
Why it's collected
For lessons, purely to run them safely and reliably: to contact you about bookings, to understand any health considerations relevant to a padel lesson, and to have a record of consent to participate.
For the community page: to run the events you sign up for, to manage places and waiting lists, and to let players on the match board contact each other. If you give an email address, it's used to send you notifications about what you signed up for, for example when someone joins a match you posted, or when a place opens up for you on a waiting list, and for nothing else. Your details are used because you've asked to take part, and your email only because you chose to give it.
Who it's shared with
It isn't sold or shared with third parties for marketing. Messages sent via WhatsApp or Facebook are handled under Meta's own privacy terms, since those are Meta's platforms, not this website's. This site is hosted by Netlify, which may process standard technical data (like IP addresses) as part of serving the page, under their own privacy terms.
The community page also relies on a few other services:
- Supabase stores the sign-ups in a database hosted in the EU (Ireland).
- Resend sends the notification emails, so it receives the email address and the content of the message, such as your name and the event details.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr supply the fonts and a piece of code the pages load, so they receive your IP address when a page loads.
Other players can see what's described above (the match board, and the names on event lists). Some of these services may process data outside the EU, under their own terms.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not currently use cookies, analytics, or any visitor tracking.
The community page does save small notes in your browser's local storage (this isn't a cookie, and it isn't sent anywhere). They let the page remember what you've signed up to or posted, so you can cancel or manage it from the same device. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings; the page will then forget your sign-ups on that device.
How long information is kept
Waiver and booking information is kept only as long as reasonably useful for ongoing lessons, and deleted on request.
Community sign-ups and match posts are kept for as long as they're needed to run the event they relate to and to follow up on it. Old sign-ups are cleared out at least once a year, and sooner if you ask. Match posts stop appearing on the board once the match has started. A tournament win is kept until the sign-ups are cleared out, so the defending champion tag can be shown at the next tournament.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you can ask to see what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. To do this, just message via WhatsApp or Facebook.
If you gave an email address, you can ask for it to be removed at any time and the notifications will stop. If you're unhappy with how your information is handled, you also have the right to complain to Malta's data protection authority, the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC).
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the update date at the top will change accordingly.
